A Data Source contains the items that change in each letter, such as the name and address of each person on your mailing list. A Data Source needs to be created only once. 

A Data Source contains fields and records which contains name, address, telephone numbers or any other set items of information for one person. 

The Data Source can be created only after the Main Document had been created.
